Playing around a bit more with my "lightbox" and macro shots. I got bored of shooting water stuff so I thought I would switch to something a bit more interesting.

I know, ive taken many knife shots but this is the first time i've shot one against black with my lightbox setup.

STROBIST: Two flashes fired. Fired my SL150 up and camera left at full power through shoot-through brolly, fired my vivitar speedlight up through the glass underneath the knife at full power.

Thanks for looking

a tribute

to Heath Ledger's Joker. Although not as theatrical as Jack Nicholson's, but more, how shall I say, demented or psychotic, but not in a bad way. Every one says his acting was amazing-including myself-but I tend to also think that they all were pretty great in this summer's The Dark Knight, especially Heath and Christian. Ledger and Bale, that is. However, I must say that Mr. Ledger is by far one of my favorite actors, if you have not seen it yet, watch 'A Knight's Tale' as it is my favorite movie. So yeah, although it may not seem like it, this work took a LOT of time in photoshop, so do enjoy it. Note my efforts for a grunge border, too.

"P.S. The quote I used in this photo, "Nothing in his pockets but knives and lint," was said to Chief Gordon by one of the officers on duty, I believe. Feel free to correct me if I am indeed wrong. That is all.

Oh, did I tell you to enjoy it? Because you should. Right now. Go ahead! You might actually like it.

The candle needed carving to fit into the skull dish that would be its candle holder. And that is my sharpest, smoothest-bladed knife. Oddly ritualish, though, don't you think?

The shops around the Pushkar fair sell the items popular with the rustic villagers i.e. things like knives, swords, sticks, accessories for the cattle etc. This is not your normal city mall full of electronic gadgets, cosmetics and the like.

Blacksmith Shop at Taurus Mountain Town

Blacksmiths forging an axe in a small town at Taurus mountains. The process is quite similar to those in good old medieval and ancient times, at iron age. Their products, gardening tools, adzes, billhooks, hoes on the wall...

Creepy Doll and the Raven

My wife thinks people will see this and decide they can't make out what it is.

The idea here was to make the photo look like it is a still from one of those old horror shows on TV. I tried to make it look slightly like it was coming in with bad reception from the bunny ears antenna. I decided to post it despite the wife's concerns. It's only Flickr after all.

So I got a new fabric to use as a background (well, I got several.) These pictures might be the last of Creepy Doll for awhile, as I am running out inspiration. I'll need to find a new hobby.

Creepy Doll, where are you going with that knife in your hand?
